Summer Vacation!

For the past week we have been on vacation! It's been so amazing to spend time with John and Kennedy and not have to think about any "normal life" things: bills, laundry, garden, cooking, etc. During this vacation, I turned 36. Ugh! 36! (Really it's not that bad, but just writing 36 for the first time made me say "Ugh!" out loud.) I have decided that, among many other things, I want to make my "Pop and Sparkle" creative life far more successful than before. Therefore for I will blog, create, have fun and blog about it all. So here we go:

Summer Vacation!
We have been in Sebastopol, where I grew up. My parents have made an amazing home here that feels like a resort, so we will call it our country house for now.
Kennedy loved swimming and splashing in the kiddo pool with her friend.

We went to the beach, flew a kite and built a sand castle. Well we tried to build a sand castle, Kennedy had more fun smashing it than building it, but thats all good!

We went to the SF Zoo. What an amazing day! First I have to say, we used a "harness" for Kennedy, a "kid leash." And I admit, in fact if needed I will say this over and over, I was wrong about those harness! Before Kennedy I thought, "who would ever use one of those things, " and "I would never put my child on a leash!" Well like I said, I was wrong! We borrowed one from a friend and used it all day at the zoo. Kennedy felt that she was being independent and free and we had total control of her and knew where she was at all times. It was the most relaxing outing, post-kiddo, we have ever had!

Kennedy and Daddy wearing the "harness." (that is... Kennedy's wearing the harness)

This guy was reading the newspaper, actually flipping the pages. Awesome!

The bears were playing in the water.

The Hippo, Kennedy's favorite!

A Lama, seriously this guy just makes me laugh out loud! Is that mean? Not sure!

It's been a great week! I feel recharged and ready for all that awaits in the real world and for all of our up-coming success!

My Super Tiny Studio!

So it has taken me longer to blog about my super tiny studio space than it took to create my studio space. I must say having Murphy blood and getting somethings done quickly is awesome.

I mentioned to John that I wanted to do this, I am very lucky that he understands my craziness, and his response was ok as if it would happen one day.

I mentioned to my mom that I wanted to do this and 2 days later she was here with a desk, organizing things and ready to help.

5 hours the first day and 3 hours the next, 8 bags of useless clothes to donate and my super tiny studio was done! I couldn't believe it! I have been working there now for a few weeks and it's amazing how much more I can get done when I don't have to shove everything away when Kennedy wakes up from her nap.

What do you think???

Life with a Toddler!

Alright, so my timing is off.

I said in my last post that I would be posting and starting up my Esty shop with in the week. Well I obviously have not figure out to set goals with an 18 month old in the house.

So a month and a half later IT'S DONE!!!! I just decided to fore go the house work, took all the photographs and wrote the descriptions during nap time and just finished posting this evening. In the future, I think it will be easier to post, if I do a few pieces at a time and not 19 (note to self).

So the other totally crazy thing I have been thinking about, and I believe I have decided to do, is to create a "art/studio space" in my closet. Currently I work at the dining room table during nap time and have to put everything away when Kennedy wakes up. This isn't working and is frustrating. I think if I take the doors off my side of the closet, put in a little desk and some shelves it could be really nice.

I wonder what John will think. He will probably think I am crazy, but what else is new. We will see what happens!

My first post

Hello Friends-
Today I decided to actually start my blog; over a year and a half ago I "started" this blog, but with a new baby, life and life it has taken me this long to actually do something here. So here it is.

I am going to chat about my life at home with a one and a half year old and how I can actually get creative. My head is swarming with creative ideas (finally) and now it's all about finding the time to actually do it.

One thing I have been doing is sewing for my "Vintage Princess by pop and sparkle" line of baby clothes that I will be posting on etsy this week. The picture above is of 'the girls' in the park wearing a few of the pieces.

Another of my adventures, of the moment, is to start a design consulting business. I have ten years of experience designing furniture, kitchens, bathroom vanities, private libraries, and entertainment cabinetry for other companies, so I think it's time to venture out on my own.

Now how I am going to take care of my husband, child, cat, home, be creative and be an entrepreneur I don't know. I think I will be able to do it. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.

xoxo-
